The tradition of the first dance is a timeless classic. But in recent years, the last dance of the night has gained popularity among couples. This final dance before send-off is (yet another) special moment for newlyweds. If you decide that a final dance is something you want, consider the following to make this dance one to remember.
ONE. Consider if you want your last dance private or not. Your DJ/band/planner will ask your guests to leave the venue and line up in a different location for your exit send off. Your photog (and possibly a few remaining vendors cleaning up in the background) will remain with the dj/band so the two of you can enjoy a special moment to end the night. A private last dance also allows your guests time to line up for your send-off. It also clears the room so there are no distractions as you get ready to leave.
TWO. Special Photo Ops. It is a stunning image to have newlyweds dancing in a dark room alone. This is the perfect time to select “your song”. With no one there to judge your song selection, choose the one that strikes the heart of your relationship.
THREE. Last Dance with your Favs. Rather have all of your favorite people surrounding you for your final dance? Get them involved! This is not as private, but more than likely you will be surrounded by your core group of friends and family. Unlike your first dance, the last dance you can ask your remaining guests to surround you both as you dance in each other’s arms. Take the photo op to the next level and have the guests blow bubbles, throw petals, or light sparklers as you dance in the circle, surrounded by love.
No matter which option you chose, the last dance signifies the end of the reception in a subtle and sweet way. Instead of the DJ making the last call and the light coming up, the last dance makes the transition between the end of the reception and send-off smoothly. Most importantly though, make it your own! Happy planning!
