Saturdays are prime real estate for weddings. Most couples prefer a Saturday wedding so all guests can attend without taking off from work and then, of course, relax into a Sunday morning. Totally makes sense. But don’t overlook a Friday wedding option. There are great perks to making Friday weddings just as wonderful! Check out our Tips to why Friday Wedding are a smart choice!
TIP 1: When considering your venue, there may be a limited amount of available Saturdays, either in the month that you want to book or even the year. In this case, a Friday could be a great alternative. Some couples don’t want to have an extended engagement just to wait on a Saturday date in the way future. Or, you find out your dream venue doesn’t have Saturdays open. You can always look for another venue option, but you will have to determine what is most important: your venue or your date? Are you willing to book your seventh favorite venue to have the date you want?
TIP 2: Fridays are here to save the wedding day! The first major perk is that most venues and some vendors have discounted rates for Friday weddings. Prime dates call for prime prices. Save a little on your budget by booking a non-Saturday wedding. More than likely, the space will be available the Thursday night before for your rehearsal as well.
TIP 3: Next comes the issue of the guest list. If the majority of your guest list is local, then a Friday wedding is very doable. Sure, there may be a few people from out of town that won’t be able to make it because it is a weekday. But, let’s be real – with plenty of advanced notice, anyone who wants to be there, will find a way to be there. (“Oh, shucks…I have to take a day off work to celebrate with my favorite people!”). Not every single person on your guest list will be able to attend your wedding even if it’s on a Saturday. Check with the people that are most important to have at your wedding and build from there. Plus, a lower guest count means more room in your budget for other wedding frills.
TIP 4: The logistics of a Friday wedding can vary slightly from a Saturday wedding. Consider moving your ceremony and reception to later in the evening. This gives your local guests time to get home from work and get ready for the festivities. Then you can party late into the evening without any worry of what will come Saturday morning. Friday weddings are ideal for the fun-loving couple that wants to dance and drink the night away.
TIP 5: Finally, after the glorious celebration of your wedding celebration, you and your friends have the rest of the weekend to spend together. Saturday brunch is a lovely option or a backyard get together with left over food and cake from the wedding. Consider a post-wedding celebration with your wedding party before everyone heads back to reality.
Friday weddings can be epic events and just as fabulous and perfect as a Saturday option. So, if you want to some wiggle room in your budget and host your wedding at your dream venue, a Friday Wedding will be a smart choice for you!
