WHY LIGHTING FOR YOUR WEDDING IS IMPORTANT

Many couples underestimate the value of wedding lighting. Sure, you understand natural light makes for good photos and that, depending on the venue, your photographer may need to use a flash of some sorts. But lighting packages for weddings extend way beyond the photos. Vendors know the importance of the good lighting and how it can transform your venue and design. We want you to understand what these lighting options are and how they can be used so you can know what exactly vendors are offering and why your planner insists you have them.

WHY LIGHTING FOR YOUR WEDDING IS IMPORTANT

Uplighting. Uplighting can drastically change the vibe of your venue design by washing almost any color over the walls and ceiling. This is a great way to add interest and attitude to your wedding style. These lights are placed around the room to bring in a specific color of light.

Pin Spots. These small lights act as a mini spot light. Usually attached to ceilings or columns, these project a pointed light directly on an object. Consider these for highlighting your table centerpieces, wedding cake, or other point of focus.

String Lights. Very popular in non-traditional venues, string or cafe lights add a certain romantic ambiance. Hang them across the ceiling or down the wall. Also consider the style of bulb and perhaps opt for an Edison bulb look. Ask your lighting vendor if the string lights can be put on a dimmer as well. If hung over the dance floor, the additional light might not be conducive to a packed dance floor.

Projection Lighting. Many couples enjoy their monogram or other image projected on a wall or dance floor. Additionally, images can be projected to create a pattern or distinct design.

Table Lighting. Although Table Lighting typically comes through your designer, rentals, or florist, don’t overlook the option to bring in some soft light on your tables. Candles (even battery operated), lanterns, fairy lights, and tea lights can create a nice effect within your tablescape.

Check with your venue to see what lighting options work best in the space. You can easily rent lighting options through a specialty rental company, dj or band, and/or sometimes your venue. This effective and cost efficient option can very easily bring your wedding design to the next level. Happy Planning!
