In the wake of COVID19, many couples are opting for a Micro-Wedding (aka Tiny Wedding). These celebrations are typically around 20-40 people. With social gathering restrictions and social distancing guidelines, Micro-Weddings are an excellent alternative to the full blown 250 guest wedding.
With the lower guest count, comes a great deal more flexibility with the budget. Just because this is a small event, does not mean that the style should be small too. Use the extra room in the budget to upgrade the menu, bar, or decor. Search for specialty rental companies in your area to rent truly unique and interesting pieces to complete your upgraded look. Work with a wedding designer to help allocate your budget to create an individualized masterpiece for your matrimonial bliss.
Consider being creative with your venue as well. Micro-Weddings allow for the flexibility to use spaces in a new and interesting way. You are not locked in to using a venue in its traditional manner. Perhaps you can have a sunrise ceremony on the roof or move the reception area to the patio. If you are adjusting your plans due to COVID19, you may be able to change venue locations all together. Perhaps an outdoor affair is an ideal situation for our world’s new circumstances. A backyard wedding is also a popular option. Couples are also opting to have a Micro-Wedding now, with a follow up celebration later with all guests. Review your guest list and be selective of the people who can attend, that are local, aren’t in danger’s way, and are “must be there” guests. Make it an event to remember in-spite of the virus and rejoice in the celebration of the adventure ahead.
Big or small, the most important part of the wedding is the union of two people as they begin their life. Nothing can stand in the way of love. Plan accordingly and consider a Micro-Wedding option. Happy planning!
